What is PDFjet for .NET?
A library that creates PDF documents from your .NET application: reports, invoices, statements, labels and more. It runs inside your application on the server or the desktop, so your users install nothing.
Why PDF?
A PDF looks and prints exactly as you designed it, on every computer, phone and tablet, in any browser or PDF viewer. It is the standard for documents people keep, sign, archive and print.
What do I need to use it?
.NET 8 or later, or .NET Framework 4.8. On .NET 8, PDFjet is a single DLL with no dependencies and
no native code: reference it from your project and you are ready. For .NET Framework 4.8, use
net48/PDFjet.dll from the download, with the four small Microsoft DLLs it needs beside it:
System.Buffers, System.Memory, System.
How fast is it?
Speed and low memory use have been PDFjet's focus since day one. Pages are written out as you go, so even reports thousands of pages long need very little memory. The 2,546-page table of Example_24, from a CSV file of 124,716 rows, takes about 2.3 seconds in .NET on an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G desktop running Linux.
Which languages can my documents use?
Most of them, with ready-to-use fonts for Latin, Greek, Cyrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai, and right-to-left Arabic, Hebrew and Persian. You can also use your own OpenType and TrueType fonts. Scripts whose letters change shape or order by the letters around them, such as Devanagari (Hindi), Bengali, Tamil and the Nastaliq style of Urdu, are not supported.
Can it create accessible and archival PDFs?
Yes. PDF/UA for accessible documents and PDF/A for long-term archiving are each a single setting.
Can it work with existing PDFs?
Yes. Open a PDF and add to its pages, fill in a form, merge several documents into one, or split one into parts. Encrypted PDFs open with their password.
Is it the same API in .NET and Java?
Yes. The same classes and methods, in the naming style of each language, so your team can move between Java and C# code with ease.
Can I try it before I buy?
Yes. PDFjet Core is the complete library with all 50 examples and their PDFs. PDFjet Pro adds digital signatures and electronic invoices.
How is it licensed?
Per developer: $295 US for a Solo License, for one developer, or $695 US for a Team License, for 1 to 5 developers, with a full refund for any reason within 30 days. I have version 8. Should I upgrade?
Version 9 adds encryption, merging and splitting, right-to-left languages, bar charts, Data Matrix barcodes and much more. It is a major release, so the API has changed and your code will need some updates; CHANGELOG.md in the download lists every change.
